Quarter Pound All Beef Hot Dogs
Are you a fan of the $1.50 hot dog at Costco? The Kirkland Signature Beef Wieners from Costco are the same ones that they serve in the food court! You can enjoy the flavor of a Costco food court hot dog in the comfort of your own home, though you won't save a whole lot of money by doing so!
Today I'm reviewing the Costco Kirkland Signature Beef Wieners. These are a staple in our freezer every summer because my husband loves to barbecue them.
Other related products from Costco are the Costco Smokey River Meat Company Turkey Breakfast Sausage, Costco Olympic Craft Meats Garlic Sausage, Costco Freybe Smoked Turkey and Chicken Sausage, Costco Wildbrine Raw Organic Sauerkraut and the Costco Dempsters Deluxe Classic Hot Dog Bun.
I also wrote about all the different Costco food court items!
Location in Store
You can find the Costco beef wieners in the refrigerated section, near all the other sausages as well as the cheese. The item number is 575675.
Taste
These Costco beef wieners are extremely flavorful and the seasoning is delicious. The casing is very soft, so none of that tough chewy casing. They taste just like the Costco food court hot dogs and they also remind me of a stadium style hot dog or one you could get at a carnival.
There's quite a strong garlic flavor, therefore I highly recommend gum or a Mentos after eating one of these! I wouldn't really call these spicy but there definitely is a bit of spice added to the wieners. They taste great with ketchup, mustard and relish!
Cost
The 1.75 kilogram pack costs $15.99 Canadian at Costco for a pack of 14 wieners. In 2018 it cost $13.99 Canadian for a pack of 15 wieners. One wiener is pretty which is something to consider when looking at the price.
Convenience
The Kirkland Signature Beef Wieners need to be kept in the refrigerator and once opened they should be used or frozen within seven days of opening them. The best before date listed on the beef wieners I bought is about two months from the date I purchased them.
To heat the hot dog wieners from Costco you can grill, broil, boil or microwave them. We usually grill them which makes them taste a lot different than the hot dogs in the Costco food court because when they're grilled they get a nice char on then. These are great for a summer barbecue or any kind of summer event!
Nutrition
Calories
One Costco hot dog wiener is 360 calories, 31 grams of fat, 1230 mg of sodium, four grams of carbohydrates, zero grams of fibre, three grams of sugar and 16 grams of protein. That's a ton of sodium! If you're watching your sodium intake I would steer clear of these completely.
Ingredients
The ingredients list isn't really that healthy at all which is to be expected. The Costco Kirkland Signature Wieners Beef Wieners are gluten-free, made of all beef and have no meat by-products or corn syrup.
